The Positive Approach: Looking Forward
Looking forward – the individual words “looking” and “forward” are emotionally fairly neutral, but the expression “looking forward” is very positive: anticipation implying a sense of good things to come. Who knew we would be in our 9th month of restrictions and awareness to reduce the spread? Looking forward to a post-pandemic future is the best way to deal with this difficult time now. Even this grows more difficult as the pandemic continues.
There is a physical and spiritual component to this time in history. Physically, we are all aware of what is going on around us. We know how we are to behave, what has been restricted, and we find ourselves listening to never-ending numbers and facts. How else can we stay positive during this time?
Find something positive to balance the news
Here is an inspirational video I found that made me smile and helped me remember we’re all in this together and we’ll be okay.
Take care of your body
Here again are the supplements I recommend to keep your immune system strong during this time:
- Vitamin D3 1000iu, 5 drops in morning
- Vitamin C 600mg 2 capsules 3 times per day
- Zinc 50mg 1 tablet once per day
- Selenium 200 mcg, once per day
Also consider some deep breathing exercises: inhale to the count of 10, hold for 10, then exhale. Repeat 10 times once or twice per day.
Besides supplements, homeopathic remedies can be used just like taking them for the flu. The best homeopathic remedy to take at the first sign of the flu is Oscillococcinum. If you need more help you would use the remedy that that fits your particular symptoms and emotions. Feel free to be in touch so that I can help in any way.
Take care of your spirit
Also consider the spiritual component. If we are pausing and looking forward to consider how to shift our lives for the better, we can ask ourselves these questions:
- Are there things we can change about ourselves?
- Is there something to let go of?
- How about something to improve?
I believe we are each being called on to take stock, to bring forward a new self, to take this opportunity to be grateful. Can I appreciate something specific today, right now? I love the rain, it creates all the plants in my environment to grow and stay healthy and green.
Is there something I can let go of today? Yes, I can worry less. I can feel certain that what I have said and done is created with the best intention.
How can I live in an inspired present moment? By being positive with the people I interact with. Empathize with what their experience is and encourage them by knowing that looking forward helps us to know we will look back at this time one day and remember how we got through this by being patient with the whole process: The virus comes and goes in its own timing. We cannot control that or know how long. It is important to enjoy every day of that process.
So while we are waiting and being patient, looking forward to a brighter tomorrow, here is a clip from musicians from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. They are patiently finding other places to perform!
Here is a dessert recipe I created. I look forward to hearing how you like it.
Lemon Coconut Pudding:
- 3 large eggs
- 1 can coconut milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- juice and rind of 1 lemon
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 ½ cup shredded coconut
Mix together using beaters.
Bring to a boil in a saucepan and simmer on low stirring constantly to avoid sticking to bottom for about 5 minutes.
Pour into 1 larger or 5 smaller containers with lids.
Cool in refrigerator to set.
Serve cold.
As the ‘wee granny’ said, “I hope you’re all keeping well and doing what you’re told. Keep to the rules and yous all be fine. It’ll pass. Bye bye for now. Love you all and think about yous a lot!”
