Happy New Year 2021!
Another year has arrived, and while the pandemic is still with us, so are hope, empowerment, and self-care to see us through.
You haven’t heard from me for a while. I have been busy working with people near and far through this difficult time. It seems many more people are thinking about their health lately, many who may not have given it much thought before. That has given me the opportunity to help people who are new to my healing practice as well as keeping those already in my community in their best health.
Hope and optimism
As I was listening to my local news this week, I heard them say that the numbers for Covid, that come out every day, are not all the information available. They continued to say the one number we do not hear often enough is the recovery rate – which is 90%. 90% of people who are known to have contracted Covid have recovered. This doesn’t mean all the others have died – the vast majority of that last 10% are still recovering. I can understand why they do not publicise the recovery rate more prominently, since people might take that as an indication that they do not need to continue isolating to prevent the spread.
Unfortunately, cultivating our fear to keep us following the protocols that keep us safer is not a good thing for our health. Knowing that we could recover after getting Covid, and likely would recover, is something important to be aware of. It takes us from fear to empowerment. That’s what natural healing is all about.
Are you kidding me, fellas? No mask? Don’t breathe on me… just … don’t even look at me!
Empowerment
So, 2021 has arrived, and with it, the Covid vaccine. We can lose ourselves in the questions about how well it will work, whether we should get vaccinated, or worry about things like the side effects. However, there are also things we can do to turn from this worry and fear to empowerment, too.
Do your own research if you’re feeling unsure or fearful.
Let me start by saying that your social media newsfeed is NOT the place to do your research. Instead, I keep in touch with the global homeopathic information. In the last week, I listened to over 4 hours of information about the vaccinations for Covid. One webinar was pro vaccine; the next webinar was the opposite. Each of these webinars was delivered by well known homeopaths who are getting great results helping people with various health concerns. Even so, they had completely different perspectives on the vaccine. There’s a lot of information out there, but it is up to each of us to sift through it and make our own informed decision about the vaccine, just as it is good practice for making all our health care and life decisions.
There is also plenty of time to get informed. In Canada, there is no rush to make a decision yet as the supply of vaccinations seems to have slowed down. Take your time and don’t panic. Your empowerment will come.
Self care
Knowing that you are not powerless in all of this is potentially the greatest source of hope. Self care gives us power and control even in these uncertain and unfamiliar times of this pandemic.
First, there is a general consensus of vitamin and mineral supplements that boost our immune system naturally.
- At the top of the list is Vitamin D3 – 5000units per day. That’s often 5 drops from many brands.
- Next is Vitamin C 500 to 600 milligrams 2 to 3 times per day.
- Then, Selenium 200 – 400 micrograms per day
- And Zinc 50 milligrams per day
- I also highly recommend having the flu remedy Oscillococcinum on hand. Homeopathic remedies are amazing at reversing flu symptoms.
If you need any additional help, get in touch with me. I continue to work each day and am available to help in any way I can.
Second, know when you are not at your best. Depression can sneak up on you. You may not even realize you are in the midst of it. You might feel angry, impatient, lethargic, or disconnected. Reach out to a friend: talk about your feelings. I have been there and needed support as well. No matter how conscious you are of taking care of yourself, emotions can make you feel isolated and alone. As many have said, and I agree, we are all in this together. Keep that in mind and it will make it easier to reach out and shift into a healing space mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
So, Happy New Year to you! Now that it is winter, enjoy the stillness of nature, the brightness of newly fallen snow, and the security of your personal environment. I have found a video that may brighten your day.
