Maintaining Weight Loss after Fast Metabolism Diet
Maintaining Weight Loss after the
Fast Metabolism Diet
After years of searching, this is the best weight loss system I have found. The Fast Metabolism (FM) diet creates better health in the process of increasing the metabolism and losing weight.
It does take some learning, especially the first 2 weeks. In July of 2015 I began the FM diet after getting Haylie Pomroy’s book. Over the summer, I lost 6 pounds in about 8 weeks of the specific recommendations using the guidelines in the book. Over last winter, I continued the principles and lost 8 more pounds.
Here’s how I did that: I realized that for me too many fats and oils were the reason for my excess weight. So I kept my fats and oil consumption focussed on the 3 day weekends – phase 3 of the diet. Though I have now modified what I eat and no longer strictly adhere to the FM diet, I continue to apply what I learned and use the basic principles to maintain my faster metabolism and good health. For me, the regimen looked like this:
I ate the breakfast I wanted: poached egg, gluten free toast with olive oil and sea salt, celery stick and quarter apple.
Lunches were geared to the different phases.
Phase 1. bread with mustard as a spread, meat, raw veg (no dressing), fruit
Phase 2. Meat wrapped in romaine with mustard, raddish, cucumber, anise raw.
Phase 3. salmon or tuna with mayonnaise. Salad with dressing, hummus or guacamole.
There were evening meals that I really enjoyed for Monday to Thursday (Phases 1 and 2). There are lots of tasty choices in the FM diet book, cookbook, and other publications. Finding FM diet meals that you enjoy shouldn’t take long and will help you achieve your goals.
Once I knew what my weight gaining foods were: fats and oils, I really tapered them in the snacks and waited until the weekend to indulge in foods like chocolate, salad oil and guacamole. You can maintain your weight by maintaining your digestion and kidney function. Look for your own reason for excess weight and create your own version of the diet.
Questions and Comments I have received:
- Do you still like the diet? Yes, it may be important to address digestive concerns with Vibrational Remedies before starting. That will make the diet easier.
- Is it important to drink all that water? Yes. However, if drinking water is difficult, this may be an indicator that kidney function is not optimal. It is important to improve the kidney function for overall health. I can help you achieve that with Vibrational Remedies.
- Can you still get results without being strict to all the guidelines? Yes, see how I did the year long above. I was also able to have snacks that were not strict to the phase I was in. Overall, I always choose healthy foods and avoid heavy proteins like dairy and pork products.
Bowel movements are very important. I recommend psyllium husks (1 to 2 tbsp per day) and milk thistle tea or supplement several times per week if needed.
The Fast Metabolism diet is not a restrictive weight loss diet; it can be a way of balancing food intake focussed on vegetables and protein. You then add in fruits, grains, fats and oils on alternate days, so that your body has full nutrition of all foods and is very healthy.
The whole diet does take some learning and work, especially at first, but overall, better health is the end result. It is one of the only systems I know of that actually creates shrinking of the body, so that lower weight comes without excess skin and flabby tissue.
I am happy to help you get started and stay on track. Next time you are here, I can show you a simplified version of recipes.
